Privacy policy

Effective 18 October 2026

PhysicsKG is local-first. Your notes and study records stay in your browser unless you explicitly export them or choose to synchronise them with your own Google Drive. PhysicsKG does not operate an application server, and personal data is not accessible to the developer through PhysicsKG.

What is stored

PhysicsKG can store the following personal data:

It remains in your browser's local storage until you clear it. You can export it as PhysicsKG personal data.zip, a transparent archive of CSV files, and import that archive into another browser.

Optional Google Drive sync

If you choose Connect Google Drive, PhysicsKG uses Google Identity Services and requests only the OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This narrowly scoped permission covers files created by PhysicsKG or explicitly opened with it; it does not provide general access to your Drive.

When you press Sync now, the app reads or updates one visible file named PhysicsKG personal data.zip. Data moves directly between your browser and Google Drive. The access token is kept only in the page's memory and is not stored in your study record or archive.

Use and sharing

Personal data is used only to restore your work, display your progress, import or export it, and optionally synchronise it with Google Drive. It is not sold, used for advertising or profiling, or shared with other users. Google processes Drive and authorisation data under your Google account and its own terms and privacy policy.

PhysicsKG's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Your control

Other network access

PhysicsKG loads graph-rendering and mathematical-typesetting libraries from public content-delivery networks. Those providers receive ordinary request information such as your IP address and browser details, but PhysicsKG does not send them your personal study data or Drive archive.

Updates and contact

This policy will be updated if these practices materially change. PhysicsKG is created by Ian Poole; questions can be sent through Ian Poole's LinkedIn profile.
